I want to be the woman
whose lips speak wisdom and compassion. I want to be the woman
whose hair is always fashion-salon perfect; Who wears her clothing
Barbie-doll perfect, Whose nails, complexion,
and smile are confection perfect. Lord, she’s the perfect
woman I want to be.
I want to be a sister,
Lord, always there for my sisters in Christ ~ Dependable, cheerful,
hospitable. I want to be the sister
who is never petty, never jealous, never small-minded. I want to be the sister
who never tears others down, but instead builds up. Lord, she’s the perfect
sister I want to be.
I want to be a friend,
Lord, a neighbor to the world . . .. Concerned, caring, and
never too busy to help. I want to be the friend
who never gossips and never competes. I want to be the friend
who sees the world through Jesus’ eyes, Then cares enough to
change things. Lord, she’s the perfect
friend I want to be.
I want to be a
professional woman, Lord, a role model for the young, but never at the expense
of her family . . . Smart, successful, and
competent. I want to be the
professional who achieves her goals without forfeiting her ethics or
her charm. I want to be the
professional who rises to the top, but never loses sight of
who she is and how she got there. Lord, she’s the perfect
professional woman I want to be.
I want to be Your
daughter, Lord, an honor to Your name. Simple, eager, and tender. I want to be the daughter
who never questions Your wisdom and never doubts Your love. I want to be the daughter
who rests securely in Your arms and wholly trusts Your leading. Lord, she’s the perfect
daughter I want to be.
Someday I’ll meet her,
Lord . . . the woman I want to be. She’ll be wearing my
freckles. She’ll be sporting my
grin. And she’ll be lifting one
eyebrow in whimsical disbelief. Someday I’ll turn around
and there she’ll be – The perfect woman I want
to be.
But until then, Lord,
make me willing each day To be the woman You want me to be. Anoint my eyes with
compassion, My ears with tolerance, And my heart with joy. Let me grow in Your grace. Let my every word and my
every deed be as pure and clear and transparent as sunlight. May I live each moment to
glorify Your holy name. Lord, that’s the kind of
woman only You can create in me.
